What is an e-bicycle?

An e-bicycle is a regular bicycle but with a battery and a motor that helps you pedal. It’s like having a little extra push when you ride. E-bicycles are fun and effortless to ride!

How fast does an eBee go?

Our eBees can go up to 30Kms/hr. This speed is regulated so as to prioritize the safety of the rider as per global e-bicycle speed standards.

How do you switch the bike on?

Press the power button on your display. Refer to our User Manual.

Do I have to pedal to move the bike?

Yes, you do need to pedal. But don’t worry, it’s easy! The faster you pedal, the more the pedal boosts your speed.

How do I charge the battery?

Your eBee comes with a charger. Just plug it into a regular wall socket. It’s easy – like charging your phone!

What is the range of the battery?

We have two battery sizes:

Large battery: can last 40-60Km on a single charge.
Extra Large battery: can last 60-80Km on a single charge.

Both batteries are removable and only weigh around 2.5 kgs.

How long does an eBee take to charge?

A fully drained eBee battery takes about 8 hours to charge.
Pro Tip: To save charging time, try to avoid completely draining your battery.

Can I charge the battery by pedaling?

Nope, sorry! You can’t charge the battery while you ride. It needs to be plugged into a socket to recharge.

Lifespan of the battery?

The battery has 1000 cycles, which means if effectively charged on a daily basis, it should last on average up to 3 years.

Why is there no throttle on eBees?

eBees are pedal-powered. A throttle will affect the range of the bike immensely, putting the rider’s safety at risk due to the increased speed.

Why are e-bicycles only slightly cheaper than some motorcycles?

Although the upfront cost of electric powered vehicles may be high due to the technology used, they save you numerous costs in maintenance. Imagine a lifetime of never having to purchase fuel! Imagine the benefits to your pocket and the environment. It’s a win-win!

Is there warranty on the eBee? (Battery, Motor)

Yes, the bike, battery, and motor have a warranty. The bike’s frame (excluding the front fork) is covered for 3 years, while the rest is covered for 1 year. Warranty does not cover damage caused by accident, misuse, wilful damage, and normal wear, claims arising from loss, fire, or other calamities caused by nature or in any way being tampered with.

Are eBee parts locally available?

Yes, 80% of the eBee parts can be easily found at local bicycle repair shops for repairs or maintenance.

How long does a repair take by eBee, for example, a motor failure?

We have a team of skilled and dedicated engineers trained by the eBee academy stand-by to help you with technical issues. The duration is issue-specific.

Where can I get repairs for my eBee done?

Ordinary mechanical issues and punctures can be done by any bicycle mechanic. However, we have eBee workshops in the following areas:

Does the bike have a tracker?

No, however, for an additional fee, you can have this included. Reach out to our customer service for more information.

How many KGs can the carrier carry?

We recommend a maximum weight of 50Kgs for dead weight (goods) to enhance safety.
However, the Nyuki e-bicycle can carry a live weight of up to 100 Kgs (people can maneuver much easier as the e-bicycle moves).

Do you sell the motor and can I add it to my regular normal bike?

eBees are manufactured intact by design and it is not possible to detach a motor from the bike and attach it to a regular one. Converted regular bicycles to electric bicycles may also be prone to safety hazards.

How much are the charges to own a bike?

Can I purchase it on loan or “Lipa Polepole”?

Yes, you can purchase at a deposit of Ksh 10,000 and make daily, weekly or monthly payments. Please WhatsApp us on 0709155501 and we will be happy to share more details.

Can I purchase a spare or extra battery?

Yes, it is possible to buy a battery as a spare. The price of the batteries are:

Large: 24,999 Kes
Extra Large: 39,999 Kes

What accessories do you sell?

We sell the following: Extra battery, rear carrier, back carrier, mudguards, kickstand, helmet, mirror-set, tool-set, lock, phone holder, among many others. You can purchase here

Do you only sell e-bikes?

Yes, we sell different types of e-bicycles.

How many bike types do you have?

We currently have the Nyuki Cargo e-bikes which are suitable for deliveries. We also have commuter and leisure e-bike known as the eBX as well as the Nyuki Family suitable for carrying your little ones!

How much are the charges to rent an e-bike?

We rent out our e-bikes to businesses and companies only from as low as KES 8,000 ex VAT per month and this cost includes free servicing and maintenance.

Can I rent as an individual?

At the moment, we unfortunately do not rent to individual persons.

What does the service rental entail?

You will receive an e-bike, helmet, lock, battery, and charger with each bike.

What are the requirements to qualify for an e-bike service rental?

To be onboarded, we require you to fill in our KYC form, which includes submitting a valid KRA and business registration certificate. Contact us on 0709155501 for more information.

What happens if the e-bike gets stolen?

The customer has to contact eBee immediately after discovery of theft and notify the police within 24 hours.
